The Reincarnation

Here marks the reincarnation of Shackside. Same same but different. Just more general in the photography department really.

Check out where I'm coming from as a photographer by clicking here.

So with the strange sense of deja-vu, I'm finding myself again signing out here, hoping that these images tickle your fancy.

Enjoy, Dean

The Bluff

Here are some recent images I took on assignment to a place called The Bluff. This series is a sub series of from a four day shoot for Tracks Surfing Magazine in late June.

It was a pretty amazing experience and a one off for me really. As my prowess has never been in my water photography, nor long lens surf dedication, I felt privileged to experience the joys of being a paid surf photographer on location.

The trip was about trying to capture the essence of what it is to be a surfer in the desert region of the north west (Australia that is). Myself and Kirk the trusty journo had planned on blasting over to Perth from Sydney on the first sniff of a big swell.

A casual glance across the continents synoptic charts on a Thursday morning was enough put the gears into motion. Some more computer model assessment, some phone calls, a big family hug, and within 36hrs we were on the red eye for Perth.

A week later I was home again, with the images on my camera card feeling like glimpses of a dream.
